• Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
  • Shut off computers, televisions, and other devices when not in use.
  • Install cheap and efficient solar-powered outdoor flood lights and foot lights.
  • Install skylights to light your house naturally.
  • Pay your bills online. Eliminating your paper trail by banking and paying bills online does more than save trees. It also helps reduce fuel consumption by trucks and planes that transport them.
  • Recycle your printer’s ink cartridges.
  • Use rechargeable batteries.
  • Replace your incandescent light bulbs and compact fluorescent bulbs with LED bulbs.
  • Buy recycled paper for your printer. Try to save documents electronically whenever possible and avoid printing when you can.
  • Eliminate vampire electronics that use electricity even when they’re off – unplug cell phone and computer chargers when not in use.
