The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is a 77-acre naturalistic habitat facility that is home to thousands of animals representing hundreds of diverse species. Committed to education, research, and wildlife conservation, the Zoo is home to 22 threatened or endangered species. The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is one of only six major zoo and aquarium combinations in the country.

Major naturalistic habitats at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium include:

  • The Asian Forest, featuring snow leopards, Amur tigers, and Asian waterfowl
  • The African Savanna, home to lions, zebras, ostriches, rhinos, giraffes, and African elephants, including baby elephants
  • Our Tropical Forest, houses more than 90 primates from all parts of the globe including one of North America's largest Western lowland gorilla troops
  • PPG Aquarium, state-of-the-art facility, featuring a stingray tunnel, a two-story open ocean tank, and more than 4,000 exotic fish
  • Worlds of Discovery, visit with small mammals like the meerkats and reptiles
  • Kids Kingdom, ranked nationally by both Parent Magazine and America's Best Zoos Travel Guide, offers daily sea lion shows, petting zoo, and Animal Connections Playground
  • Water's Edge where visitors can get up close and personal with the world's largest and most powerful predator-the polar bears. Enjoy the funny antics of sea otters, and squeal with delight at sand tiger sharks. Experience the thrill of seeing a polar bear swim over head or a sand tiger shark swim beside you in two underwater tunnels. Water's Edge is the only exhibit in the country with two underwater tunnels
