(Pittsburgh) (June, 2011) The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is purring with excitement as celebrate our Amur tiger cubs and African painted dog pups, Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5.

The Amur tiger cubs are 8 months old and love to explore every inch of their yard. They stalk the flamingos in the next yard and when they realize they can’t get them, they hone their hunting skills by chasing low-flying birds around the yard.

At the African painted dog yard, the pups are also keeping busy. They chase each other around, play with their favorite toy – a braided fire hose – pulling it apart and chewing on the pieces for hours. The pups also love the waterfall and pool in their yard.

Enjoy live entertainment, make tiger and lion crafts, bone up on your cat and dog trivia, visit bio-fact “touch tables”, and meet the keepers who care for these wonderful animals. On Saturday, meet local celebrities and their pets to find out if they prefer cats or dogs. Say hello and get an autograph and get your picture taken. Then visit and let us know: are you a cat or dog person and why!

Don’t miss out on the fun.  Visit us as we kick off our summer fun with our cubs and pups!
