Position Title: Grants & Foundation Coordinator

Responsibilities/ Duties:

  • Researches potential funding sources, including foundations, and government sources.
  • Researches and write various proposals including program, operating and capital.
  • Develops and cultivates excellent working relationships with foundation program officers, and both corporate and government representatives.
  • Works with Board members and other volunteers who have relationships with foundation officers, and corporate and government representatives, as assigned.
  • Develops and maintains a bank of program funding needs for ready development into proposals.
  • Maintains an annual calendar of submission dates for proposal planning and development.
  • Submits follow up reports to meet stewarding and funder requirements.
  • Conducts tours of exhibitry as a means of education and stewardship.
  • Writes and edits, as needed.
  • Enters data from grants and proposals into Paciolan.
  • Participates in department events, as needed.

 Qualifications:

Minimum five years experience in a fast-paced, dead line oriented development department and a work history of increasing responsibility.  Specific and successful experience in planning, researching, and writing a full range of grant proposals.  Experience in working and developing rapport with a wide range of funders.  Exhibits a depth of knowledge regarding the Zoo and its mission.

Very strong organizational skills; excellent written/oral communication skills, capacity to work with a broad range of people; ability to multitask; unflappable; proficiency with computers and related software; highly motivated self-starter; team player yet ability to work independently; excellent phone skills; great attention to detail and extremely accurate when producing products; excellent planning and time management skills, research skills and tenacity.

Working Conditions:

Position is primarily sedentary in an office environment.  Must be available to work evenings, holidays and weekends as required to support department and Zoo functions; some exposure to outdoor climate.  Position requires valid PA driver’s license and access to vehicle.
