The African giant black millipede (Achispirostreptus gigas) is a long, black, cylindrical animal, with four legs (two pairs) on each body segment.
Size: The African giant black millipede can grow between six and eight inches.
Life Span: It is difficult to measure this animal's longevity, but it is suspected that its lifespan is between three and five years.

Reproduction: Females lay hundreds of eggs in a nest they make of compressed soil just below the surface.
Fun Facts: These millipedes have the ability to curl themselves up into a ball if disturbed and can secrete a defensive liquid that could be dangerous if put into the eyes or mouth.
