How You Can Help
As temperatures drop here in Pittsburgh for the winter, many people are pulling out their sweaters and wishing for the warmer days of summer. Not our penguins! They are anxiously awaiting the big chill and the installation of their new HVAC system. Macaroni and gentoo penguins, who reside at the Zoo, need temperatures at a frigid 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit to match those of their sub-Antarctic home range. With their new and improved chiller, these birds will remain healthy and happy as they enjoy the frosty temps for years to come!

The penguin chiller is just one way your support helps the Pittsburgh Zoo. Your donation not only ensures that we are able to provide the best possible care for the animals and plants at the Zoo, but also provides education about issues affecting their wild counterparts and the environment. Because of you and the generosity of your support, the Zoo is able to complete multiple projects and upgrades around the Zoo. You may even have the opportunity to double your gift; ask about matching gifts with your employer. Together, we are making a real difference for wildlife.
