Photos for Conservation | Zoo Camp
For children AGES 12 & 13
Explore the conservation issues facing many of the world’s most endangered animals while experiencing the excitement of capturing once-in-a-lifetime photographs. Campers will get closer than ever to their favorite zoo animals while having the opportunity to meet the keepers taking care of them. Campers will be responsible for providing their own digital (non-cell phone) camera. A family and friends viewing party will be held on Friday afternoon to highlight the favorite photos of each camper. In addition, each camper will take home a flash drive containing all of their photographs.
Students will be introduced to some of the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium’s most fascinating residents. The week will be packed with animal encounters, guided tours behind-the-scenes, exciting classroom lessons, and other fun activities. Program themes are designed to be fun and engaging for each age group. Snacks are generously provided by Giant Eagle. Full day campers are responsible for bringing their own lunches Monday-Thursday. On Friday, a pizza lunch is provided by the Zoo.
All classes are conducted by experienced teachers and college students, each of whom is current with the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History (Childline), and FBI Criminal Background Check. The Zoo cannot be responsible for, or dispense, any medications to campers.
Campers may only attend one week of Photos for Conservation Zoo Camp (dates listed below) in addition to one week of of Vet Camp, either June 29 – July 1 or July 27 – 29.
Please note: We understand that children outside of this age group may want to attend, but we ask that only those of the appropriate age group join us. Our classes and programs are designed specifically for the age group listed.
