Today, we are featuring noah, the community events coordinator
This is his story…

The Pittsburgh Zoo has been my favorite place to visit in the city for as long as I can remember. It seems most of my childhood pictures are of me wearing a safari hat at various animal exhibits. With that being said, when I saw an opening in the Special Events department, I knew I had to apply! After getting my Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Administration, I knew wanted to work for a non-profit with a job specializing in event planning.

My job is to oversee the majority of our public events. This includes our family-focused events such as Breakfast with Santa and ZooBoo. I also plan our adult evening events like Sip & Swirl and ZooBrew. Working on our events allows me to work with just about every department in the Zoo and has given me a deep appreciation for all the work that goes into daily life here.

My favorite part of working at the Zoo is always having something different to do every single day. One day I’m speaking to prospective entertainment and making seating charts. The next day I could be delivering pumpkins to our animals for Halloween or decorating a Christmas tree! Another highlight of my job is working with so many wonderful vendors and artists in Pittsburgh. There is nothing more rewarding than bringing something new to the Zoo and sharing an experience with our guests.

During my first week on the job, I vividly remember walking through Asian Lantern Festival after loading in our entertainment vendors. It was at that point I was so taken aback by how appreciative I was to be able to work in such an amazing environment on these incredibly unique events.

The opportunities I’ve had at the Zoo have helped me grow more than I can imagine both as an event planner, but also as a non-profit professional. The team I have the privilege to work with could not be more welcoming, collaborative, and inspiring.

Thank you for all you do, Noah!
