EDUCATION SPONSORSHIP

The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium hosts several innovative learning programs, and sponsoring these valuable educational experiences helps support and enhance these vital initiatives. 

EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT TAX CREDIT

Every year, the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium actively involves numerous students from schools across the region in our innovative environmental education programs. Our classes align with the academic standards set by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for science, technology, and environment/ecology subjects.

Due to this commitment, we have been officially recognized as an Educational Improvement Organization (EIO) by the PA Department of Education. If your business has tax liabilities in Pennsylvania, we can partner with you through the EITC program to provide tax credits. If you’re unfamiliar with EITC, you can learn more about it on the DCED’s EITC website.

Participating in the EITC program allows your company to potentially receive a Pennsylvania tax credit of up to 90% of your contribution to the Pittsburgh Zoo. When factoring in the impact on federal taxes, your contribution can result in nearly a 100% benefit for your company.

It’s important to note that the EITC program offers a tax credit, not just a tax deduction, to businesses approved by EITC. To qualify, you need to provide proof of a contribution to the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium equivalent to 75% of the total amount donated during the tax year. Furthermore, a tax credit equal to 90% of the total amount contributed is granted if you commit in writing to contribute the same amount for two consecutive years.

By participating in the EITC program, your dollars stay within our community to specifically benefit the innovative conservation education programs offered by the Pittsburgh Zoo. Additionally, your company can enjoy valuable public relations benefits through this program. IN-KIND DONATIONS

What do we mean by in-kind donations? An in-kind donation refers to a non-cash gift that is given to the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, which can include goods, services, time, and expertise. Both individuals and companies, including corporations and businesses, can contribute in-kind donations. We appreciate and welcome in-kind donations, especially those related to habitat and animal care, if they are currently needed. However, please reach out to us beforehand to verify whether we can accept a particular item.

During your company’s United Way campaign, you can make a difference through payroll deduction.
