Plan Your Visit

Our visitor and staff safety is a top priority.

The Zoo is temporarily CLOSED to the public. Read the press release.

We will continue to monitor any new developments and re-evaluate our steps and actions, following the guidance and directives of the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
During this time, our dedicated caretakers and veterinarians are continuing to provide the highest standards of professional care and welfare for our animals on site.

However, as the situation heightens and we remain closed to guests, our needs continue to grow. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on visitor admission to sustain our mission.

If you would like to help during this time, we would be so grateful for any gift you can make to the Zoo. Your contribution will directly help in the continued care of our 7,000 animal residents.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you when we reopen!

All active duty, reservists,  and veterans of the United  States military receive free general admission with proper identification (i.e. military ID, DD-214). This discount does not apply to family members or dependents of military personnel/veterans.  Thank you to GEICO for sponsoring this Military Admission program!

Some of our animals cannot be out during the cool Pittsburgh fall weather, so we offer discounted admission during those months. There’s still plenty to see, though! Our toasty indoor Tropical Forest, PPG Aquarium, Worlds of Discovery, and Water’s Edge buildings, plus several partially indoor exhibits, such as our elephant barn, several exhibits in The Islands, and flamingo exhibit ensure you’ll still catch plenty of wild animals during your visit.  Don’t forget some animals, such as the Amur tiger and red panda, prefer the cooler temperatures, so a trip to the Zoo in the winter offers an exciting contrasting experience to the more traditional summer visit.

Our Zoo has partnered with KultureCity to improve our ability to assist and accommodate guests with sensory needs. Our objective is to provide an inclusive and seamless experience for all guests for all events including those with sensory needs. We strive to raise awareness of the needs and challenges faced by individuals with sensory processing disorders by supplying our Team Members with continuous training and by offering helpful accommodations to our guests, such as sensory bags containing special KCVIP badges, fidget tools, noise canceling headphones, and other resources, at no additional cost.
