Join us on International Red Panda Day on Saturday, September 21, to celebrate one of our Zoo’s most captivating creatures!
Red Pandas need our help. These endangered bamboo specialists have suffered a 50% population decline in the past 20 years. By supporting the Pittsburgh Zoo, you’re supporting our collaboration with Red Panda Network and AZA’s SAFE Red Panda program to increase habitat connectivity and expand conservation efforts in the mountains where red pandas live.
Touch, feel, and explore biofacts with our docents at the red panda habitat, and stay for story time at the Safari Amphitheater, with a meet and greet with Ruby our red panda mascot afterwards.
All ages welcome!

Support
The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium’s keepers maintain an Amazon wish list of specific items that our animals will love. You can support our animal residents directly by purchasing any of these engaging items, which get sent directly to the Zoo.
Helping animals exercise their minds is essential to their well-being. It is just as important as proper nutrition and routine veterinary care. Creative outlets for physical and mental stimulation include different forms of play, food, objects, sounds, smells, and structures.
The Zoo offers its animals a variety of items that encourage natural behaviors, such as digging, foraging, or hunting.
