Give to the Zoo

We could not accomplish all that we do without the generosity and support from our donors, who show their commitment to conservation and education through their donations to our Zoo.

With your support, we can ensure that each one of our one million annual guests leaves our park with the feeling they have gained something they can only access from a visit to our Zoo – knowledge, inspiration and connection. In addition, your contributions will directly support our conservation efforts both here at home and around the world.

Give to the Zoo or get involved. You can truly make a difference.

Campaign Donations

Coral only exist in about two percent of the world’s aquatic habitats, but they are home to over 25 percent of all aquatic life. Alarmingly, they are disappearing very quickly and some scientists predict that all coral could disappear in as soon as 50 years. The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is actively involved in coral conservation efforts both here at the Zoo and around the world. Every year our aquarists visit waters around the world and occasionally, bring coral back home to the Zoo to be studied. This work has helped our veterinary and aquarist team make huge strides in finding cures for certain ailments in corals.

Every year, hundreds of sea turtles are beached or stranded in cold water due to injury, disease, illness, or environmental threats. Our Sea Turtle Second Chance Program is helping to change their stories by giving sea turtles a second chance through rescue, veterinary care, rehabilitation, and release back into the wild as possible. Nestled within the PPG Aquarium, the Zoo’s sea turtle rehabilitation center provides world-class care with the goal of release and a renewed hope for survival for every turtle.

Located on over 700 acres of pristine woods, forested land, and secluded rolling hill country in rural Somerset, PA, the International Conservation Center (ICC) is North America’s premier facility for African elephant conservation, education, breeding, training, and research. Operated by the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, this facility that provides the greatest hope for the future of the African elephant and other endangered species. Contributions to the ICC help provide care for the animals who live at the ICC and fund research.

The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is an APPROVED Educational Improvement Organization (EIO) through the PA Department of Community and Economic Development’s Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. Your EITC donation to the Zoo’s educational programs can replace your tax liability to the state. The dollars your company would have paid in taxes will instead provide thousands of local students with life science enrichment, S.T.E.M. education opportunities, and up-close interaction with the Zoo’s amazing wildlife. Visit the state’s EITC website for more information or to apply for tax credits.
