Adopting lets you play an important and direct role in promoting the well-being of your favorite Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium residents. Your gift helps provide for the care, feeding, and enrichment of the animals, while supporting the Zoo’s commitment to wildlife conservation, both locally and around the world.

All animal species at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium are available for adoption. The name of each adopter is posted on the Adopt-An-Animal page on the Zoo’s website (monthly) and on the Adopt-An-Animal board located next to the Safari Gift Shop on Zoo grounds (updated each spring). All levels of adoption packages include a personalized adoption certificate, a magnet, monthly Z-mail updates, and an issue of our Zoo Insider newsletter!

All adoptions are valid for a one-year period and may be renewed annually. Adopted animals may have multiple adoptive donors and no ownership rights are conferred by adopting an animal. All adopted animals remain in the care and custody of the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, but we hope you will visit often! Adopting an animal is also a great project for a classroom or school group; your school’s mascot species may even be a Zoo resident!
