The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium’s internship programs offer a unique and exciting opportunity for high school (candidates must be at least 18 years of age), college students, and graduates to explore and experience the inner workings of a modern zoological park. A variety of disciplines are available from which students or graduates may choose.

Volunteering at the Zoo is as fun as it is rewarding. Zoo Docents are volunteer staff who help guide Zoo visitors around the park, educate them about animals with live animals showings, bio-facts, and touch tables, and help to interpret the many happenings around the Zoo to help visitors get the most out of their day at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. Volunteer divers assist PPG Aquarium staff with in-tank maintenance of our warm and cold water exhibits, including the ocean tank, sea otters, sand tiger sharks, and more. Volunteer divers also participate in special event activities that further the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium’s mission.
