Zoo Operations Schedule
What to Expect From Your Visit
The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium is open every day of the year, except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. During the winter months, we run on an adjusted off-season operations schedule. See our full schedule below to learn what to expect during your visit based on the season.
In-Season (April – October)
Food stands, gift shops, rides, and attractions are scheduled to be open. All animals are scheduled to be on exhibit, weather permitting. Shows and scheduled enrichment are available. All indoor buildings are open: Tropical Forest Complex, Aquarium, Worlds of Discovery. In-Season Animal Enrichments (Memorial Day – Labor Day. Activities and Enrichment are subject to change.)
Penguin Feeding: Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
Polar Bear Enrichment: Tuesdays, Thursdays at 11:00 a.m.
Orangutan Enrichment: Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m.
Sea Lion Program: Daily at 12:30 p.m.
Sea Otter Enrichment: Daily at 12:30 p.m.
Gorilla Feeding: Mondays and Thursdays at 2:00 p.m.
Anteater Feeding: Tuesdays at 2:15 p.m.
Warty Pig Enrichment: Mondays and Thursdays at 2:30 p.m.
Daily Activities (Memorial Day – Labor Day. Activities and shows are subject to change.)
VR Theater: Daily 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Safari Amphitheater: Daily 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m.
Bayer Amphitheater: Daily 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m.
Off-SEason (November – March)
Reduced general admission prices. Main restaurant and select gift shops open. Reptiles and warm-climate animals off exhibit for the season. Some warm weather animals have viewing areas and windows to see them indoors. All indoor buildings are open: Tropical Forest Complex, Aquarium, Worlds of Discovery. Most rides and attractions are closed. Penguins on Parade is scheduled during weather-permitting weekends.
